John Strickland has been painting, teaching English, and playing jazz most of his life. His paintings are included in collections in Edinburgh Scotland, London, Seattle, San Francisco, Houston, Indianapolis, Cambridge Massachusetts, New York, Barbaste France, and Corpus Christie Texas. American Art Resources commissioned three works to be displayed at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. His work has been included in the Midwest National Abstract Art Exhibition in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. He had a one-man show at the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts in Seymour Indiana in 2008 and the ChaseTower in Indianapolis in 2009. His work is featured in the spring 2010 issue of South magazine. He had a one-man show at Franklin College in September of 2011 and will have another show at the Johnson County Museum of History Feb 17 --May 26 of 2012.

His studio is located on the first floor of an old schoolhouse at 550 East Jefferson in Franklin IN. Though his hours are irregular, visitors are welcome, if only to browse.
